BoiseIONS Sponsored event–Richard Tarnas

BoiseIONS will be helping to sponsor a presentation by Richard Tarnas on Apri1 27-28 2010.   It will be at the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 6200 Garrett in Boise Idaho (208)658-1710.

Richard Tarnas, Jungian scholar and cultural historian, will present his vision of a new world view. Tarnas is the author of the internationally acclaimed The Passion of the Western Mind and of Cosmos and Psyche (awarded Book of the Year from The Scientific and Medical Network in England.) His work is ground-breaking both in his analysis of Western history and in his views of an emerging world view. His first book,  praised by such diverse figures as Joseph Campbell, the psychologist Stanislav Grof, and professor of religious studies Huston Smith, is recognized as a fresh and profound understanding of the development of Western thought.
His controversial new book challenges our understanding of history at its very foundations,  suggesting a synchronistic connection between astrological patterns, the structure of the world, and the psyche that pervades it.
Richard Tarnas, Ph.D., is professor of philosophy and psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, and founding director of its graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. He teaches with James Hillman at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, and is a former director of programs and education at Esalen Institute.
Friday night will lay the foundations of Tarnas’ work and views through a presentation and question and answer period, followed by a book signing. 7-9 p.m.
Saturday workshop will deal with main ideas in Cosmos and Psyche, inviting participants to look at history in a new and challenging light. 9 a.m. – 12 noon & 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Lunch on your own.
