Our speaker will be Nicteha Rubio Marquez, whose topic will be “Universe and Human Energy…What it is, plus why and how can we use it”. Nicteha will also include Mayan Prophecies in her presentation. "As a professional body-worker and healer for over 10 years, I have studied all aspects of healing modalities, from anatomy and physiology and massage techniques; to Reiki and chakra balancing and aura cleansing.  I’ve come to the conclusion that the one thing which needs healing the most is our minds.  If our thoughts are truly made manifest, then to have healthy bodies and healthy lives, we need to have a disciplined mind.  This is what ACIM teaches.  To have a disciplined mind means to have our minds and our thoughts reside in that state of peace, joy, happiness, and love. Only there, as that state, is our natural inheritance.  We have forgotten in the busyness of our lives that we do have a choice in how we live our lives.  ACIM speaks of having to make only two choices; between love or fear.  In this unreal/real world that we live in, we are for the most part , programmed to choose fear.  But there is another choice.  We do have within us the ability and innate desire to choose something else, love.  ACIM does not teach the meaning of love for that is not something that can be taught, only experienced.  But what ACIM does aim at doing is removing the obstacles to the presence of love."

The Institute of Noetic Science meeting will be held Sunday, July 26th, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, on 6200 Garrett in Garden City.  The program will be a showing of Barbara Marx Hubbard’s Gateway to Conscious Evolution; Portal #1.  This title is The Whole Story. The DVD provides  an in-depth presentation on Barbara’s work with "Conscious Living" ,  and is a good "follow-up"  for the popular Humanity Ascending documentary.

Our speaker will be Marcine Quenzer, who is an accomplished author, speaker and artist. Her topic will be “Earth Wisdom: Science and Native Prophecy”. Our speaker is Sunny Freeman-Genz.  She became involved in a grassroots movement to create a cabinet level Department of Peace in 2005, and became the Idaho State Coordinator of the Department of Peace Campaign in 2006.  She will share her story of political activism, locally and in our nations’ capitol, as well as share the details of the great piece of legislation, H.R. 808.  There will be a social time after Sunny’s presentation to visit with her individually.
The following is more information about the Department of Peace:
“Domestically, the Department of Peace will develop policies and allocate resources to effectively reduce the levels of domestic and gang violence, child abuse and various other forms of societal discord.  Under one umbrella, the Department will build upon and bring together community peace programs currently in place around the country that have been proven successful.  Internationally, the Department will bring together highly trained experts in violence prevention, conflict resolution and peace building and advise the President and Congress on the most sophisticated techniques and innovative ideas regarding peace-creation among nations.  It will also research and analyze the root causes of war and other forms of violence to help prevent conflicts from escalating to the point of violence.  A Peace Academy, on par with the Military Service Academies, would train civilian peacekeepers and the military in the latest nonviolent conflict resolution strategies and approaches.  The Secretary of Peace would sit at the table of power to directly advise the President.
“This peace movement has also gained international momentum.  The “Global Alliance for Ministries and Departments for Peace” is a community of dedicated individuals, organizations and autonomous campaigns, supporting their national governments to significantly invest in the development of skills and infrastructure dedicated to the peaceful resolution of conflict”

A Conference and Community Forum featuring former Amnesty International President and US representative to the UN James O’Dea; Scholar, Author and Founder of the Institute for Sacred Activism Andrew Harvey; President, the Foundation for Conscious Evolution Barbara Marx Hubbard; Former Green Beret and Native American Elder and wisdom keeper Sequoyah Trueblood; and LOCAL LEADERS Jayne Sorrels of Interfaith Sanctuary; Leslye Moore of International Rescue Committee; Mark Ickes of Think Boise First!; and one other very special local leader TBA.

The mission of this event is to address the challenging times we are currently experiencing with parameters for understanding core issues and taking viable action as individuals, community, and as a whole. Activism that is from the heart could be termed “Sacred Activism”—and thus it is beyond any secular intonation. “Living in the Fire of Change” is a bridge for the Treasure Valley community to come and take part in a solid and inspiring discussion, and to have opportunities to pose questions to globally known leaders in their fields.

This event will also highlight local nonprofits and invite audience discussion, as well as profound keynotes on social justice, activism, and understanding our challenging times. Saturday afternoon features a Panel discussion combining the national leaders with our local leaders: “Where do we go from here and how do we take viable action as individuals to help our community” will be one of the panel topics.

This event closes with a “CALL TO SERVICE/CALL TO ACTION” and will highlight local organizations Sustainable Futures, Interfaith Sanctuary, IRC, and others TBA to allow audience and greater community to get involved with specific volunteer opportunities.

The Institute of Noetic Sciences April meeting will include a showing of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s film called Ambition to Meaning…Finding Your Life’s Purpose.  The movie uses an entertaining portrayal of life stories to teach us how to create a life of meaning and purpose, based on serving and giving back.    This will be followed by an informal "coffee time"  for sharing ideas and discussion.

Michael Dunlap, Ph.D.; who will speak on "Moving Toward Understanding How Consciousness Creates the Material World".  The time is 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday,  February 22,  at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on 6200 Garrett in Garden City. 

Dr. Dunlap is a senior engineer at Hewlett-Packard where he works as a Test Scientist and program lead.  J. Michael has a life-long passion for Metaphysics and understanding the nature of religion as a unifying force in the world.  His deep interest in Physics stems from his undergraduate course work in Atomic and Nuclear Physics, along with a fascination for Quantum Mechanics and Super String Theory.
